This is a medium-sized aloe that resembles Aloe Arborescens in form and habit, the latter being one of the constituents of the hybrid. The plant itself does not grow as tall as Aloe arborescens. The real difference lies in the flowers – it is a spectacular producer of flowers – a profusion of coppery orange clusters.
The main mature plant in the Sunbird Aloes rockery (about 70cm tall) opened its first inflorescence with 20 racemes in April 2009. Ready to follow the first inflorescence were 4 others! This means the plant was still contributing to the flower show in the garden long after the first cold of winter. Aloe ‘Copper Shower’ will stem faster if all stem shoots are removed. If not it will have a bushy growth habit.
