This extra large, short stemmed aloe cultivar opens its beautiful red-to-white flowered racemes in late winter and is therefore not adversely affected by early winter frost. It produces multiple, branched inflorescences. The large leaves are greenish grey and lined with dark-tipped, pale spines. The plant is unlikely to produce stem shoots (suckers) but may divide its rosette as it matures.
Aloe ‘Samurai’ requires open space on the rockery in order to develop to its full potential. It is a feature plant that can accentuate the colour variety in other late flowering aloes if they are clustered around it.
