Aloe ‘Toffee Apple’

Small to medium sized, stem-less aloe with broad green leaves. The flower colour was once described as a ‘delicious red’.  It can produce at least 3, branched inflorescences with apple-sized, shiny red racemes. Although the individual flower’s colour fades to a pastel shade, the overall impression of the raceme remains red because of its unique shape. Flower production is spaced over a very long period from midsummer to spring. The reason for this lies in the consecutive inflorescences.

There are bound to be stem shoots sooner or later. Of these a few (2 or 3) could be retained on the plant, but leaving too many will adversely affect flowering.

“Toffee Apple” is a very versatile little aloe – it will be happy in a pot or in the garden.
