Aloe ‘Karoo Crimson’

Small, compact and stemless, this little aloe with its warty green leaves and tall inflorescences with large, reddish pink flowers is a popular container plant. In spite of its small size it can be planted in the open rockery as well. It flowers from mid-winter to spring.

Aloe ‘Karoo Crimson’ produces stem shoots from the base as the plant matures. If too many of these shoots appear, it may be wise to remove most, if not all, of them. To do this some soil will have to be scraped away and the shoots removed by cutting cleanly, close to the main stem, with a surgical blade.

It is a good companion to Aloe ‘Andrea’s Orange’, the deep pink flowers contrasting beautifully with the bright orange of Aloe ‘Andrea’s Orange’.
